Hi Mohamed, Tks for the response. Am the only user on the system. (New PC I am running up for home). I checked and my user code (Only One) says it is an administrator. I have also tried loading the XP Virtual Machine to Win 7 and have configured the VPN to be exactly the same as per my existing XP machine but it also will not connect coming up with Error 691. Many Tks Paul.

Issue Description : Am connecting to a VPN site. Have two PC's with Win 7 64 Bit Professional (Lenovo X220 & DELL Inspiron). Have configured both to same access site. One works and other does not. Both identical configuration. The Lenovo does not have the bottom half of the DNS tab greyed out and works. The Dell has the bottom half of the DNS Tab greyed out and does not connect. I am assuming this is the cause of the issue. Access Path : Network Connections > Select Properties (on Custom VPN entry) > Tab Networking > Properties for Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Select Advanced on General Tab > Select DNS Tab Question. Would anyone know why the botton half of the DNS Tab is greyed out and/or how to reactivate. Many Tks Paul

Hi, The DNS suffix for VPN connection is defined by the VPN server. You cannot change it. To get it work properly, you can add the DNS suffix into your local DNS suffix search list. You should do it via Group Policy. So this wouldn’t be the root caused for Windows 7 VPN connection problem. Configure the DNS Suffix Search List for a Disjoint Namespace According the issue, I wonder whether there any error message can be provide? Some detail information may help us for further researching. “it also will not connect coming up with Error 691.” Error Code 691 Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on the domain. Please check the username and password again. Hope that helps Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
